Dominique Gunn

A native of East Cleveland, Ohio, “The Queen Bee” began her professional journey in the hair industry 18 years ago at The Ohio State School of Cosmetology. Excelling as a scholarship student in beauty school, she continued her studies at The Ohio State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and spent several years as a cosmetology instructor before opening Queen Bee’s Beauty Salon. It was during her college years at OSU that she saw a real need for an African-American based salon on campus and followed her dream. With many years of experience in the industry, she has a great passion for hair and making people beautiful. Her continual education with traveling in the US and worldwide keeps her motivation strong and her techniques up to date. In the salon, she strives to create an environment in which her clients are at ease to express themselves and their ideas. Her number one goal is for clients to be confident and satisfied with their hairstyle. She specializes in short and long cuts, updos, all relaxed styles, weaves and extensions and color.

- Salon Manager/Natural Stylist/ Lock Specialist

“Dani” has developed a reputation as one of the best natural stylists in Columbus, Ohio. Professionally trained at the Ohio State School of Cosmetology and Napps, Kinks & Bebes, she has mastered the trade in her 16 years in the industry. She believes that one can never stop learning in this industry and stays current with trends by taking continuing education classes so that she is able to cater to her wide range of clientele. Her work has earned her trophies and many accolades throughout the city as well as in nationally acclaimed hair shows and magazines. She specializes in locks, twists, pressing and all areas of natural hair care.

Awa Kimora

Awa Lala Kimora

- African Braiding Specialist

Lala brings her talents to the U.S. all the way from the land of Ghana, Africa, where she initially started braiding hair as a child. Professionally trained and licensed in both countries, Lala’s gift of hair braiding is very unique and has brought her a wide range of clientele from all over the world. Known to some as the “official braider of the OSU women’s basketball team”, she considers many of the girls “her babies” and keeps them beautiful on and off the court throughout the school year. Her work can be seen in many hair magazines throughout the US and is usually seen at any OSU women’s basketball game as well, whereas many of the players are her clients. She specializes in micro braids, Senegalese twists, kinky twists, tree braids, invisible braids and much more.

- Natural Stylist/Braider

Angelic is known as the baby of the family at Queen Bee’s, but don’t let her pint size fool you! When it comes to hair, she is known to work magic with kids, men and women’s hair. She has the gentle hand of a parent when working with children’s hair of all ages, from braids to twists, pressing and ponytails. She displays an amazing range of creativity with her intricate braid design on men’s and women’s cornrows and is popular for her “soft hand and speedy technique”. She offers a comfortable and stress-free environment that starts the minute clients walk in the door. She continues the relaxed feeling by getting to know her clients and opening up a dialogue about their vision for their hair. It is her goal to help every client find a style that is a true fit for their hair type. She specializes in children’s hair, cornrows on men and women, locks and twists.
